About
Wild rice is an edible marsh grass grain that weighs about 6.2 ounces (177 g) per level cup.
Dry wild rice has a bulk density of about 0.78 ounces per fluid ounce (0.75 g/mL). A full quart container holds about 1.6 pounds (708 g) of the long, slender grains. Because their shape leaves small air gaps when poured, wild rice is slightly less dense by volume than standard white rice.
From Wikipedia
Wild rice, also called manoomin, mnomen, psíŋ, Canada rice, Indian rice, or water oats, is any of four species of grasses that form the genus Zizania, and the grain that can be harvested from them. The grain was historically and is still gathered and eaten in North America and, to a lesser extent, China, where the plant's stem is used as a vegetable.
