A kind of rice

About
Long-grain rice is a staple cereal grain that weighs about 7.1 ounces (201 grams) per cup.
Uncooked long-grain rice has a bulk density of about 0.49 ounces per cubic inch (0.85 grams per milliliter). The slender shape of the grains creates small air pockets in a container, making it slightly lighter by volume than granulated white sugar. A standard five-pound (2.3-kilogram) bag takes up about 11 US cups of space on a pantry shelf. When boiled in water, the grains swell and roughly triple in volume.
