A kind of provolone · also called Shredded provolone cheese, Grated provolone
About
Shredded provolone is an aged cow's milk cheese whose loose shreds weigh about 4 ounces (114 grams) per cup.
With a density of about 4.0 ounces per cup (0.48 grams per milliliter), shredded provolone contains substantial air between its strands. Shredding lowers the density of the cheese, making it take up more than twice the space of a solid block. It packs similarly to other shredded semi-hard cow's milk cheeses, such as mozzarella or mild cheddar. A standard 8-ounce (227-gram) grocery package yields roughly two level measuring cups.
