About
Ground lamb is minced meat packed tightly enough that one cup weighs nearly half a pound.
With a bulk density of about 7.9 ounces per cup (0.95 grams per milliliter), ground lamb takes up almost the same amount of space as water. The small pockets of air between the ground bits make it slightly less dense than an uncut, solid piece of meat. A typical one-pound (454-gram) package fills roughly two US cups (473 milliliters). It has a very similar volume and weight profile to other minced meats such as ground beef or ground pork.
From Wikipedia
Ground meat, called mince or minced meat outside North America, is meat that has been cut into small pieces by a meat grinder or by chopping with a knife. A common type of ground meat is ground beef, but pork, veal, lamb, goat, poultry and mixtures of these are also ground.
