About
The US one-cent coin is a small metal disc measuring exactly 0.75 inches across.
Although the penny is the lowest face-value coin in American currency, it is wider and thicker than the ten-cent dime. Stacking sixteen pennies reaches a height of about 1 inch (2.54 cm). Modern pennies made after 1982 use a zinc core with a thin copper plating, keeping the coin lighter than older, pure-bronze versions.
