A kind of cooking oil · also called gingelly oil, til oil
About
Sesame oil is an ancient vegetable oil that weighs slightly less than an equal volume of water.
Sesame oil has a typical density of 7.7 ounces per US cup (0.92 g/mL), which allows it to float on top of water. Its weight by volume is nearly identical to other culinary fats like canola oil and olive oil. An entire quart of sesame oil weighs around 1.9 pounds (872 g), taking up the same physical space as a quart of milk while weighing less. Both raw and toasted varieties share this same density, so they take up identical amounts of shelf space per bottle.
From Wikipedia
