A kind of cooking oil

6 views: its portrait, and how it looks in the comparison photos.
About
Olive oil is a pressed fruit oil that is slightly lighter and less dense than water.
Olive oil has a typical density of about 7.7 pounds per gallon (0.92 g/mL), which means it takes up slightly more space per ounce than pure water. Because of this lower density, one liquid quart of oil weighs around 1.9 pounds (0.87 kg) rather than the standard two pounds for water. It has a thickness and weight very similar to canola or vegetable oil, but it is far lighter than dense kitchen liquids like honey or maple syrup.
From Wikipedia
Olive oil is a vegetable oil obtained by pressing whole olives and extracting the oil.

Quick answer
One US cup of olive oil weighs about 7.7 ounces (218 g). This is roughly eight percent lighter than an equal cup of water, which is why the oil floats.
