About
Raw spinach is an airy leafy green vegetable that takes up substantial volume while packing very little weight.
Because loose leaves trap a large amount of air, raw spinach has a very low bulk density of about 8.1 pounds per cubic foot (0.13 g/mL). A standard measuring cup holds only about 1.1 ounces (31 g) of fresh leaves. Similar to other leafy greens like raw kale or loose lettuce, it fills plenty of bowl space before wilting down to a fraction of its size when cooked.
From Wikipedia
