About
The sweet orange is a common citrus hybrid that grows to roughly the size of a standard baseball.
This fruit is a natural hybrid of the pomelo and the mandarin. In size, it sits directly between its two ancestors, growing larger than most mandarins but much smaller than a heavy pomelo. Depending on the tree variety and growing conditions, mature sweet oranges typically range from 2.5 to 3.5 inches (6.4 to 8.9 cm) in diameter.
From Wikipedia
The orange, also called sweet orange to distinguish it from the bitter orange, is the fruit of a tree in the family Rutaceae. Botanically, this is the hybrid Citrus × sinensis, between the pomelo and the mandarin orange.
