About
A cantaloupe is a sweet, round melon that grows to about the size of a duckpin bowling ball.
Across different varieties, cantaloupes can range from 1.1 to 11 pounds (0.5 to 5 kg). They are much smaller than most watermelons, but they share a similar size range with honeydew melons. A noticeable portion of their total volume comes from the central hollow cavity, which holds seeds rather than fruit flesh.
From Wikipedia
The cantaloupe is a type of true melon with sweet, aromatic, and usually orange flesh. Originally, cantaloup referred to the true cantaloupe or European cantaloupe with non- to slightly netted and often ribbed rind.
