About
Onion powder is a light, dehydrated seasoning that takes up more space per ounce than table salt.
Onion powder has a bulk density of about 0.26 ounces per cubic inch (0.45 g/mL). A level tablespoon weighs roughly 0.23 ounces (6.6 g), which adds up to 3.7 ounces (106 g) for a full measuring cup. Because grinding dried onions leaves air between the particles, it is much lighter by volume than water, white sugar, or fine salt.
From Wikipedia
