About
Mixed nuts are assorted snack nuts whose irregular shapes leave plenty of empty air space when poured together.
Because whole and halved kernels have irregular shapes, they do not pack tightly and leave noticeable air space in a container. One US cup of mixed nuts weighs about 4.8 ounces (137 grams), giving them a bulk density of roughly 36 pounds per cubic foot (0.58 grams per milliliter). This makes a scoop of mixed nuts much heavier than puffed snacks like popcorn, but noticeably lighter than fine pantry staples like table salt or granulated sugar.
From Wikipedia
Mixed nuts are a snack food consisting of any mixture of mechanically or manually combined nuts. Common constituents are peanuts, almonds, walnuts, Brazil nuts, cashews, hazelnuts (filberts), and pecans.
