A kind of candy · also called M&M's, M&Ms, Plain M&M

About
An M&M is a small button-shaped chocolate candy measuring about half an inch across.
The classic milk chocolate version is flatter and smaller than varieties filled with peanuts, pretzels, or peanut butter. Because of their compact size and uniform lentil shape, hundreds can settle into a small bag with very little wasted space between them. It takes roughly five hundred standard pieces to total a single pound (0.45 kg).
From Wikipedia
M&M's is a brand of sugar-coated dragée chocolate confectionery made by the Mars Wrigley Confectionery division of Mars Inc. since 1941. The confection has a dyed candy shell protecting its chocolate or variety filling from melting.
