About
Grain is a small, hard harvest seed that packs roughly 6.2 ounces (177 grams) into a standard measuring cup.
Grain has a typical bulk density of about 47 pounds per cubic foot (0.75 grams per milliliter). Because air fills the spaces between the kernels, it is less dense than water and floats easily. A standard 5-gallon (19-liter) bucket holds roughly 31 pounds (14 kilograms) of dry grain. That makes it denser than all-purpose flour, but lighter than granulated white sugar.
From Wikipedia
A grain is a small, hard, dry fruit (caryopsis)–with or without an attached hull layer–harvested for human or animal consumption. A grain crop is a grain-producing plant.
