About
The golden chanterelle is a popular wild edible mushroom that grows to roughly the size of a small lemon.
Several distinct species share the name golden chanterelle, and their sizes can vary considerably depending on local moisture and soil. While common varieties remain palm-sized, certain relatives like the California golden chanterelle can expand to several times this weight under optimal forest conditions. Unlike animals, mushrooms do not have male and female forms, so all individuals within a species follow the same physical scale. Their dense, meaty flesh keeps them relatively heavy despite their modest height.
