About
Garlic powder is a finely ground seasoning made from dried garlic that weighs roughly half as much as water.
Garlic powder has a typical bulk density of about 4.2 ounces per cup (0.5 grams per milliliter). Because dehydrated garlic is pulverized into fine particles, it packs much tighter than loose, dried leafy herbs. Even so, it remains considerably lighter by volume than granulated table salt or white sugar. A typical spice jar holding 2.1 ounces (60 grams) takes up about half a cup of volume on a kitchen shelf.
