About
Dry quinoa consists of small edible seeds that pack about 6.7 ounces (189 grams) into a standard measuring cup.
Dry quinoa has a bulk density of about 50 pounds per cubic foot (0.8 grams per milliliter). Because the tiny disc-shaped seeds pack together closely, quinoa takes up significantly less space than bulkier grains like rolled oats. A standard 1-pound (454-gram) package takes up about 2.4 US cups (568 milliliters) of space in a pantry container.
From Wikipedia
Quinoa is a flowering plant in the amaranth family. It is a herbaceous annual plant grown as a crop primarily for its edible seeds; the seeds are high in protein, dietary fiber, B vitamins and dietary minerals especially potassium and magnesium in amounts greater than in many grains.
