A kind of tomato
About
The cherry tomato is a small botanical variety of tomato that grows from fingertip size up to golf-ball size.
Whole cherry tomatoes have a bulk density of roughly 5 ounces per cup (0.6 grams per milliliter). Because their round shapes leave air spaces between them in a container, they take up more space and weigh less per cup than diced tomatoes or water. A standard dry pint holds about 10 ounces (284 grams) of these small fruits. Botanically classified as Solanum lycopersicum var. cerasiforme, each fruit ranges in size from a thumbtip to a golf ball.
From Wikipedia
The cherry tomato is a type of small round tomato believed to be an intermediate genetic admixture between wild currant-type tomatoes and domesticated garden tomatoes. Cherry tomatoes range in size from a thumbtip up to the size of a golf ball, and can range from spherical to slightly oblong in shape.
