About
The brown bear is a massive northern mammal recognized by its wide frame and powerful shoulder hump.
Among land predators, only the polar bear rivals the brown bear in overall bulk. Adult males are significantly larger and heavier than females. Actual size varies widely by region and food supply, with coastal bears often growing much larger than inland populations. Much of their mass is concentrated in a prominent hump of digging muscle over their shoulders.
From Wikipedia
The brown bear is a large bear native to Eurasia and North America. Of the land carnivorans, it is rivaled in size only by its closest relative, the polar bear, which is much less variable in size and slightly bigger on average.
