About
Agave nectar is a dense liquid sweetener that weighs substantially more than water by volume.
Agave nectar has a density of about 11.7 ounces per US cup (1.4 grams per milliliter). Because it is a concentrated liquid composed mainly of fructose and glucose sugars, it occupies much less space than dry granulated sugar of the same weight. Its physical heft is very similar to honey and slightly denser than standard maple syrup.
