About
Sliced mushrooms are light and airy, packing loosely with wide air gaps between each cut piece.
Sliced mushrooms have a bulk density of about 19 pounds per cubic foot (0.3 grams per milliliter). Because of their curved shapes, the slices stack unevenly and leave large open spaces in any container. A cup of raw sliced mushrooms weighs less than half as much as a cup of chopped carrots. During cooking, they lose water and collapse down to a fraction of their original volume.
