About
A popsicle stick is a flat, lightweight wooden strip measuring about four and a half inches long.
Standard craft sticks share the exact same proportions as common ice pop handles. Medical tongue depressors are closely related but noticeably larger, typically measuring 6 inches (0.15 m) in length. Because standard sticks are so thin, you can stack fifty of them into a pile only about 4 inches (0.1 m) high. Despite their featherlight weight, the birch wood grain allows them to hold several pounds of pressure before breaking.
From Wikipedia
A tongue depressor or spatula is a tool used in medical practice to depress the tongue to allow for examination of the mouth and throat. Hobbyists, artists, teachers and confectionery makers use tongue depressors, which may also be referred to as craft sticks or popsicle sticks.
