A kind of swimming pool · also called Olympic swimming pool, Olympic-sized swimming pool, 50-metre pool, long course pool
About
An Olympic-size swimming pool is a regulation racing basin stretching 164 feet (50 m) long.
This racing pool is twice the length of a standard 82-foot (25 m) short-course pool. Organizers usually build competition pools slightly longer than 164 feet (50 m) to leave room for electronic timing touch pads on the walls. Many modern Olympic facilities also exceed the standard 6.6-foot (2 m) depth to reduce underwater turbulence during races.
From Wikipedia
An Olympic-size swimming pool is a swimming pool which conforms to the regulations for length, breadth, and depth made by World Aquatics for swimming at the Summer Olympics and the swimming events at the World Aquatics Championships. Different size regulations apply for other pool-based events, such as diving, synchronized swimming, and water polo.
