About
A measuring cup is a compact kitchen tool designed to hold precise volumes of wet or dry ingredients.
Measuring cups range from small nested scoops holding a fraction of a cup up to large pitchers that hold several quarts. Dry measuring cups are sized to be leveled flat at the rim, while liquid models include extra headroom and a pour spout. Heavy glass versions can weigh substantially more than plastic or aluminum versions of the exact same capacity.
From Wikipedia
