A kind of crab · also called King crab meat, Alaskan king crab
About
King crab meat is a dense seafood that weighs about 7.9 ounces (225 grams) per standard US cup.
King crab meat has a bulk density of about 0.034 pounds per cubic inch (0.95 grams per milliliter), allowing it to pack tightly into containers. A full quart (0.95 liters) holds nearly 2.0 pounds (900 grams) of picked meat. This density is very similar to other firm cooked seafoods like lobster and shrimp. Because muscle tissue contains a high proportion of water, a portion takes up almost the exact same space as an equal weight of broth.
From Wikipedia
King crabs or stone crabs are marine decapod crustaceans of the family Lithodidae that are found chiefly in deep waters and are adapted to cold environments. They are composed of two subfamilies: Lithodinae, which tend to inhabit deep waters, are globally distributed, and comprise the majority of the family's species diversity; and Hapalogastrinae, which are endemic to the North Pacific and inhabit exclusively shallow waters.
