A kind of dog · also called German shepherd dog, Alsatian, GSD, Deutscher Schäferhund
About
The German Shepherd is a medium to large working dog breed that stands roughly two feet tall at the shoulder.
Males of this breed are generally larger than females, which usually weigh between 50 and 70 pounds (23 to 32 kg). They are larger and sturdier than closely related herding breeds like the Belgian Malinois, but far smaller than giant breeds like the Great Dane. A thick double coat often makes these dogs appear bulkier and heavier than they actually are.
