A kind of potato · also called fries, chips, finger chips, French-fried potatoes

About
French fries are fried strips of potato that pack loosely, leaving large air gaps that make them light by volume.
French fries have a low bulk density of roughly 25 pounds per cubic foot (0.4 g/mL) because their rigid shapes keep them from settling closely together. This loose arrangement means that more than half of the space inside a cup or carton is empty air. In comparison, solid raw potatoes or dense mashed potatoes pack more than twice as much weight into the same amount of space.
From Wikipedia
French fries, or simply fries, also known as French fried potatoes, chips, and finger chips, are batonnet or julienne-cut deep-fried potatoes of disputed origin. They are prepared by cutting potatoes into even strips, drying them, and frying them, usually in a deep fryer.
