About
A felling axe is a two-handed cutting tool roughly 35 inches long built to bring down standing trees.
Felling axes have longer handles than hatchets or splitting axes to generate maximum swing leverage across wood grain. While overall handle lengths typically range between 31 and 36 inches (0.79 and 0.91 m), the head itself usually accounts for more than half of the total weight. Even with a modest weight of about 4.9 pounds (2.2 kg), concentrating that mass at the far end of the shaft delivers significant force.
From Wikipedia
An axe is an implement that has been used for thousands of years to shape, split, and cut wood, to harvest timber, and as a weapon. The axe has many forms and specialised uses but generally consists of a head with a sharpened blade attached to a handle.
