About
Electrolyte powder is a dry blend of mineral salts that weighs about 5 ounces (142 g) per cup.
With a typical bulk density of 37 pounds per cubic foot (0.6 g/mL), electrolyte powder is relatively light. Because it often contains starches, sweeteners, and anti-caking agents, it takes up far more space than pure table salt, which weighs almost twice as much by volume. A single serving of about 0.2 ounces (6 g) occupies roughly two level teaspoons (10 mL). Once stirred into water, the minerals dissolve completely into ions without visibly changing the volume of the liquid.
From Wikipedia
An electrolyte is a substance that conducts electricity through the movement of ions, but not through the movement of electrons. This includes most soluble salts, acids, and bases, dissolved in a polar solvent like water.
