About
Taurine powder is a crystalline supplement that packs about 6.7 ounces (189 grams) into a single measuring cup.
With a bulk density of about 6.7 ounces per US cup (0.8 grams per milliliter), taurine powder settles into a compact, crystalline form. A typical 1-pound (454-gram) container takes up roughly 2.4 US cups (568 milliliters) of shelf space. It is much denser than airy powders like whey or flour, packing into scoops much like table sugar. A standard level teaspoon holds around 0.14 ounces (4 grams) of the powder.
From Wikipedia
Taurine is a naturally occurring organic compound with the chemical formula H2N−CH2−CH2−SO2−OH in its non-zwitterionic form and H3N+−CH2−CH2−SO−3 in its zwitterionic form, and is a non-proteinogenic amino sulfonic acid widely distributed in mammalian tissues and organs. Structurally, by containing a sulfonic acid group instead of a carboxylic acid group, it is not involved in protein synthesis but is still usually referred to as an amino acid; however, being non-proteinogenic, it is not a component of the genetic code and is distinguished from the protein-building α-amino acids.
