About
A cotton ball is a small, fluffy wad of fiber about 1.4 inches wide used for hygiene and medicine.
Cotton balls are sold in regular, large, and jumbo varieties for first aid and makeup routines. Flat cotton pads cover more surface area on the skin, but rounded balls contain more loose depth. Because most of a ball consists of trapped air between the fibers, you can easily compress it down to a fraction of its original size.
From Wikipedia
Cotton pads are pads made of cotton which are used for medical or cosmetic purposes. For medical purposes, cotton pads are used to stop or prevent bleeding from minor punctures such as injections or venipuncture.

Quick answer
A standard cotton ball measures about 1.4 inches (3.5 cm) across and weighs roughly 0.02 ounces (0.6 g). That gives it roughly the diameter of a walnut, though it is far lighter.
