A kind of dog

About
The beagle is a small, sturdy hound bred for tracking scents on foot.
Beagles share a similar look and coat pattern with foxhounds, but breeders kept them much smaller so hunters could keep up on foot. Kennel clubs recognize two size varieties, including those under 13 inches (0.33 m) and those between 13 and 15 inches (0.38 m). Males are generally slightly heavier and taller than females, though both have a sturdy build. Despite their modest height, their deep chests give them enough lung power to bay and track scents over long distances.
