About
A basketball hoop stands nearly 13 feet tall from the ground to the top of its regulation backboard.
The rim itself is mounted 10 feet (3.05 m) above the floor, but the backboard adds significant height above the goal. Portable backyard setups are often lighter and smaller, while arena units with heavy counterweights can weigh substantially more. The rim has an inside diameter of 18 inches (46 cm), which leaves enough room for two regulation basketballs to drop through side by side.
From Wikipedia
The basket or hoop is a piece of basketball equipment, consisting of the rim and net. It hangs from the backboard.
