About
Sunflower seeds are light, edible seeds that weigh about 4.8 ounces (137 grams) per cup.
Sunflower seeds have a bulk density of about 36 pounds per cubic foot (0.58 grams per milliliter). Because of the air pockets between their teardrop-shaped shells, they take up noticeably more space than smoother grains like rice. A one-quart jar holds about 1.2 pounds (550 grams) of whole seeds. They weigh significantly less per volume than dense pantry staples like flour or sugar.
From Wikipedia
A sunflower seed is a seed from a sunflower. There are three types of commonly used sunflower seeds: linoleic, high oleic, and sunflower oil seeds.
