A kind of rock · also called River rock, River pebble

About
A river stone is a water-smoothed rock that easily fits in the palm of your hand.
River stones take shape as moving water tumbles rough rock fragments against sand and sediment, gradually grinding away sharp edges over years or centuries. While this sample fits comfortably in a closed fist, natural river rocks can span from tiny pebbles less than an inch across to heavy boulders. Because natural stone is dense, even a modest piece feels noticeably heavier than plastic or wood items of identical size.

Quick answer
A typical palm-sized river stone measures about 3 inches (0.075 m) long, 1.6 inches (0.04 m) tall, and weighs 0.55 pounds (0.25 kg). This makes it roughly the size and heft of a large lemon.
