About
Psyllium husk powder is an airy plant fiber that takes up more than three times the space of table salt.
Psyllium husk powder has a low bulk density of about 2.5 ounces per cup (0.3 g/mL). Because it is so light, a 1-pound (454 g) package takes up roughly 6.4 US cups (1.5 L) of space. It requires far more container room than denser kitchen staples like sugar or cornstarch.
From Wikipedia
Psyllium, also known as isabgol and ispaghula, is any of several members of the plant genus Plantago whose seeds are used commercially for the production of mucilage. Psyllium is mainly used as a dietary fiber to relieve symptoms of both constipation and mild diarrhea, and occasionally as a food thickener.
