A kind of mobile phone · also called StarTAC
About
The Motorola StarTAC was an early clamshell mobile phone designed to be compact enough to wear like a pager.
Introduced in 1996, the StarTAC was the first widely known clamshell phone and folded in half to fit easily into a pocket. At the time of its release, it was the smallest and lightest cellular phone on the market, replacing much bulkier brick phones. Its tiny footprint allowed users to clip it to a belt or slip it into a shirt pocket like a pager. Optional extended batteries added thickness and weight, but the base model remained exceptionally light.
