About
The great white shark is a massive predatory fish that grows longer than a typical family car.
Female great white sharks typically grow larger than males, sometimes reaching lengths well beyond 16 feet (4.9 m). While much smaller than gentle filter-feeders like whale sharks, it is one of the largest predatory fish in the ocean. Surprisingly, its massive, oily liver can account for over a quarter of its entire body weight, which helps the heavy animal stay buoyant.
