About
A football stadium is a massive outdoor sports arena built to hold tens of thousands of seated spectators.
Stadium dimensions vary considerably based on seating capacity, concourse layout, and whether the venue includes an enclosed dome. Open-air football stadiums cover far more ground than indoor basketball arenas, but they occupy less total area than sprawling auto racing tracks. The immense weight comes primarily from thousands of tons of structural steel, reinforced concrete tiers, and deep foundation piles engineered to support crowds safely.
From Wikipedia
A stadium is a place or venue for (mostly) outdoor sports, concerts, or other events and consists of a field or stage completely or partially surrounded by a tiered structure designed to allow spectators to stand or sit and view the event. Pausanias noted that for about half a century the only event at the ancient Greek Olympic festival was the race that comprised one length of the stadion at Olympia, where the word "stadium" originated.
