About
The axolotl is a fully aquatic salamander that grows to roughly the length of a standard dinner knife.
Unlike most other salamanders that transform into land animals, axolotls keep their aquatic larval bodies and external gills for their entire lives. Most adults range from 6 to 12 inches (0.15 to 0.30 m) long, though captive individuals can occasionally grow slightly larger. Males and females reach similar overall lengths, but adult females typically develop wider bodies, especially during the breeding season. Their overall size is comparable to the aquatic larval stage of their close relative, the tiger salamander.
From Wikipedia
The axolotl is a species of mole salamander. It is neotenic, reaching sexual maturity without undergoing metamorphosis, and the adults remain fully aquatic with obvious external gills.

Quick answer
An axolotl measures about 9.8 inches (0.25 m) long, stands 2.0 inches (0.05 m) tall, and weighs around 0.44 pounds (0.2 kg). This gives it roughly the length of a standard letter envelope and the weight of a billiard ball.
