About
The wild turkey is a heavy North American game bird that stands nearly waist-high to an adult human.
This species is the heaviest member of the gallinaceous bird order, which includes pheasants, quail, and chickens. Adult males are noticeably larger and heavier than females. Although heavier than most other wild birds in its habitat, it is significantly leaner and more agile than the commercial domestic turkey bred from it.
From Wikipedia
The wild turkey is an upland game bird native to North America, one of two extant species of turkey and the heaviest member of the order Galliformes. It is the ancestor to the domestic turkey, which was originally derived from a southern Mexican subspecies of wild turkey.
