About
The Syrian hamster is a small pet rodent that grows to about the length of a dollar bill.
They are the largest variety of hamster commonly kept as pets, easily outpacing smaller dwarf species in length and bulk. Female Syrian hamsters are typically slightly larger and heavier than the males. Their expandable cheek pouches can stretch all the way back to their shoulders, allowing them to temporarily hold a volume of food nearly as large as their head.
