A kind of wrestler · also called Rikishi, Sumotori
About
A professional sumo wrestler is a heavy Japanese athlete built with immense mass and power for ring combat.
Professional sumo in Japan is contested exclusively by men, with top division competitors often averaging around 330 pounds (150 kg) or more. Some of the heaviest athletes in the sport have weighed over 500 pounds (227 kg). Because professional sumo has no weight classes, a wrestler may face an opponent who weighs significantly more or less than they do. Despite their bulky frames, wrestlers train extensively for flexibility and leg strength to keep a stable center of gravity.
From Wikipedia
A rikishi (力士), sumōtori (相撲取り) or, more colloquially, osumōsan (お相撲さん), is a sumo wrestler. Although used to define all wrestlers participating in sumo wrestling matches, the term is more commonly used to refer to professional wrestlers, employed by the Japan Sumo Association, who participate in professional sumo tournaments in Japan, the only country where sumo is practiced professionally.
