About
The red-tailed hawk is North America's most common raptor, standing about as tall as a standard bowling pin.
Female red-tailed hawks are typically up to twenty-five percent larger and heavier than males. Despite an impressive wingspan that often exceeds 4 feet (1.2 m), their hollow bones keep their body mass remarkably light. When compared to other widespread raptors like the bald eagle, a red-tailed hawk is less than half the height and roughly a quarter of the weight.
From Wikipedia
