About
The mule is a sturdy equine hybrid between a donkey and a horse, standing roughly shoulder-high to an adult.
Mules are typically taller and heavier than their donkey fathers, taking much of their frame from their horse mothers. Their exact size varies greatly depending on the dam, ranging from small miniatures to massive draft hybrids that can top 1,800 pounds (820 kg). Thanks to hybrid vigor, mules often have denser bone tissue and thicker hooves than horses of a similar height.

Quick answer
An average mule measures about 7.2 feet (2.2 m) long, stands 4.9 feet (1.5 m) tall at the shoulder, and weighs around 990 pounds (450 kg). This makes it about the same height as a standard riding horse and roughly as heavy as a grand piano.
