About
The mallard is a widespread wild duck that measures around 18 inches long and weighs just over two pounds.
Mallards are medium-sized dabbling ducks, larger than small ducks like teals but far smaller than geese. Males are generally slightly heavier and larger than females, though both share the same compact shape. Despite weighing only a couple of pounds, their thick layer of waterproof feathers gives them a plump, rounded appearance on the water.
