About
The Komodo dragon is the world's largest living lizard, stretching over eight feet from snout to tail.
This species is the largest member of the monitor lizard family, easily outweighing all other living lizards. Males grow significantly larger and heavier than females, occasionally reaching up to 10 feet (3 m) in length. A substantial portion of their total length comes from a heavy tail that is nearly as long as the rest of the body. Despite standing less than knee-high off the ground, their dense bone structure and heavy muscle give them surprising bulk.
