About
The Indian peafowl is a large ground bird recognized for the male's long, colorful train of feathers.
More than half of a male peacock's total length comes from its decorative tail coverts rather than its actual body. Female peahens are notably smaller, reaching about half the male's length because they lack this extended train. Despite their cumbersome length and heavy frames, they rank among the largest flying members of the pheasant family.
