About
The groundhog is a heavy-bodied North American marmot that grows to roughly the size of a plump house cat.
Groundhogs are among the largest members of the squirrel family, easily dwarfing tree squirrels and chipmunks. Males are usually slightly larger and heavier than females. Their body weight shifts dramatically across the seasons, often doubling from early spring to late summer as they pack on fat before hibernating.
