About
Gold is an exceptionally dense precious metal that packs more than ten pounds into a single standard measuring cup.
Pure gold has a density of about 0.70 pounds per cubic inch (19.3 grams per milliliter), making it over nineteen times heavier than an equal volume of water. Because its mass is so concentrated, a standard 400-troy-ounce bullion bar is roughly the size of a common clay brick but weighs around 27.4 pounds (12.4 kilograms). This makes gold nearly two and a half times denser than iron and more than seven times denser than aluminum.
From Wikipedia
